The Aus­tralian Bur­lesque Fest­ival was born out of a pas­sion to cel­eb­rate our won­der­ful bur­lesque com­munity. Foun­ded in 2010 by Dolores Dai­quiri, Rosy Rab­bit, Sap­phira and Chaz Royal and deb­ut­ing to sold out audi­ences the fest­ival has flour­ished and 2012 prom­ises to be big­ger, brighter and thrill­ing to the core!
The burst­ing pop­ular­ity of the bur­lesque revival is in full swing around the world and Aus­tralia is at the fore­front with its unique fla­vour of the­at­rical and col­our­ful bur­lesque acts. With out­rageously tal­en­ted artists shin­ing on the inter­na­tional stage the Aus­tralian Bur­lesque Fest­ival brings together the best of the best of our homegrown artists as well and inter­na­tional shin­ing stars never before seen on Aus­tralian stages!
Bur­lesque afi­cion­ados and first timers alike have delighted in the biggest cel­eb­ra­tion of tease Aus­tralia has ever seen. There is good old fash­ioned bump’n’grind, bawdy vari­ety, clas­sic glam­our and exotic tease, and thats just the begin­ning. The fest­ival comes is a com­munity based exper­i­ence where as well as stun­ning show­cases, per­formers and audi­ences alike can learn the tricks of the trade from the best per­formers in the busi­ness at a vari­ety of workshops.
